Mirroring technologies that are mirroring us
People have long tended to anthropomorphize mechanical devices. However, in this highly automated world, these machines are not only giving us directions or updating us about the weather but also communicating with us on the deepest levels - talking back to us, imitating human understanding, communications and giving us the illusion of empathy. The device’s ability to integrate with artificial intelligence and machine learning, and to be made to look and act like us is already inserted deeply into our lives. Companion Bots, which use AI and machine learning, can change not only the way we interact with robots but also how we interact with ourselves. In my studio research, I have tried to reflect back on those bots that are reflecting on us.
